About Me

My name is Alena Pulhug, and I am a UX Researcher and Designer with interests in user research, accessible design, and information architecture. I am a new graduate from the University of Toronto where I received a Master of Information in User Experience Design in 2025. I am currently working as a volunteer with the non-profit Roots of Empathy to improve the backend user experience for the marketing team.

I have experience working on UX client projects with Korotu Technology Inc, Women's College Hospital, University of Toronto Accessibility Services, the Textile Museum of Canada, and Loblaws PC Express.

In 2023, I graduated with Distinction from the University of Victoria where I completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Linguistics with a minor in French. As part of my Honours thesis, I conducted community-based research on Indigenous language reclamation initiatives where I had the opportunity to experience designing with rather than for communities for the first time— sparking my interest in User Experience Design.

When I'm not designing, you can find me hiking, latin dancing, and ice skating!
